OrganizationDay School The Day School Committee, which is often called the school board, oversees the practices and activities of Christ our Redeemer’s day school program, its students and its staff. It sets the school's policies and budgets, which are in turn carried out by the school's administration.
The Education Committee is in charge of Christian education for the people of Christ our Redeemer. It provides an age appropriate Bible for each child. This Bible is theirs to keep and use in Sunday School and home. It organizes classes for Sunday school, first communion, confirmation and vacation Bible school. The committee also supervises COR's high school youth group.
The work of the Fellowship Committee centers around fellowship. It offers a variety of opportunities throughout the year for fellowship and fun, including receptions, pool party, game nights, luncheons and dinners, including special dinners during Lent and Advent and an annual progressive Christmas dinner.
The Member Care Committee oversees the prayer chain, parish nursing, Stephen Ministry and small groups. It also offers grief support and caring phone calls to parishioners.
The Property Committee is responsible for the maintenance, repair, change in, or addition to the church and school property. In the past year, the committee completed a major renovation of the playground, installed a new sprinkler system and laid 30,000 feet of sod.
The Social Ministry Committee helps in meeting the needs of the COR neighborhood community and our global community in Christ. For example, we have sponsored many refugee families over the years. Financial and volunteer support is also given for projects through the ELCA, Habitat for Humanity, the Judeo-Christian Health Clinic, Lazarus Project (aiding children in Haiti), Lutheran Services Florida, Lutheran World Relief. Metropolitan Ministries, and Migrant Ministries.
The Stewardship Committee’s mission is to help members of the congregation embrace the beauty of stewardship and understand its place and importance in the everyday life of a Christian. The committee organizes the annual pledge drive, a gifts inventory and events that recognize people who give back to God through the ministry at COR.
The Worship Committee is responsible for all worship services of the congregation, and the personnel and materials for their conduct. The committee is also responsible for weddings and ministry to shut-ins.
The Outreach Committee provides greeters at each service, calls on visitors, communicates our ministry to the community, and encourages the congregation in local, national and international mission. 9/7/08: Amercana Worship at 8:00 & 10:30 Services. 9/7/08: Concert of American Music at COR at 3:00 PM.
