Pre-School
Preparing young minds to explore their spiritual, social, physical, and academic potential is the cornerstone of Christ Our Redeemer’s early childhood program. Each child is unique and requires a pace consistent with his or her individual developmental readiness. To ensure that every child is interested, excited, and engaged in learning, COR uses a thematic curriculum approach that stresses exploration and creativity while incorporating a broad-based learning experience. Teachers place a strong emphasis on oral language development, as this is one of a child’s most natural and impressive accomplishments. Creative activity centers encourage young children to explore, discover, and create. The activities encourage problem solving and enhance socialization, self-concept, and language development. Dedicated, well-trained, and caring teachers strive to ensure that each child experiences success, develops a positive self-image, and acquires a love for learning in a Christian atmosphere.

Elementary School
Christian education and the spiritual formation of young minds are achieved through a strong partnership of parents and committed caring Christian teachers. At Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran School, that partnership is taken to heart. During these early formative years, innovative classroom techniques stimulate eager minds and foster the joy of learning in the core subject areas of reading, spelling, math, science, social studies, and religion.
Curriculum is organized around thematic-based units designed to help students make important learning connections among subject areas. The reading program is literature-based and blends phonics with writing skills. Limited class size allows each child to receive personalized attention and guidance by highly experienced teachers who strive to develop each student’s social, physical, and academic skills.
Elementary students at Christ Our Redeemer participate in a variety of curriculum-related field trips that instill a sense of excitement and allow for a deeper understanding of the subject area(s). Students have the opportunity to learn in context and engage in real world experiences. For example, fourth graders take a two-day trip to St. Augustine, which corresponds with a unit in their Florida History textbook. Foreign language, art, music, physical education, library skills, and computer instruction are also integral programs that emerge during the elementary curriculum to encompass a well-rounded educational experience. In addition, COR offers a tutoring program to assist students who may be in need of additional academic assistance.
Middle School
Christ Our Redeemer offers an authentic Christian learning environment that assists parents in providing a Christ-centered education of the highest caliber. Skilled and involved teachers promote high academic standards while helping middle school students develop skills in creative and critical thinking. Rigorous academic coursework and small classes support the quest for excellence in spiritual, social, emotional, and academic growth.
Core academic subjects include English grammar/writing, literature, math, science, social studies, religion, and Spanish. There are also honors classes available for our fifth through eighth grade students in the areas of literature and math. Students are exposed to art, music, physical education, and technology and may choose from a variety of electives that include organized sports, book club, morning show, drama, fitness, yearbook, advanced art, tennis, and culinary arts. The students also may partake in extracurricular activities including sports, science fair, student council, bell-choir, soundboard, and community service projects that are designed to complement the core program. In the eighth grade, high school credit is available for science and algebra, and students have an opportunity to participate in an eighth grade graduation trip.
Middle school students also enjoy opportunities to build powerful relationships with their teachers and peers through an overnight retreat and service projects throughout the year. Seventh grade students take a trip to Sea Camp in the Florida Keys, as a part of their in-depth study of Life Science. The middle school teachers meet regularly as a team to collaboratively plan units, review curriculum, and make every effort to communicate with parents. Students and parents can check assignments and grades online and can communicate electronically with teachers. Christ Our Redeemer middle school graduates perform extraordinarily well at the high school level.
