Last year, we looked at the greatest hits of the Old Testament. Short version - it’s over 2/3rds of the whole Bible. It took over a 1000 years to put it together. There is some history, laws, prophets, songs, poems, and wisdom sayings. It’s a lot, but God wanted so bad to have a deep relationship with his people (we call this a covenant).
Fast forward 1,500 years or so, and Jesus really wants the same thing, he wants us to listen to God, love others in God’s way, but Jesus is also God’s son, so that changes everything!
The New Testament has letters, a LOT of letters from someone named Paul. Paul had a past that was not always good, but Jesus loves him anyway and calls him to a new way of life. The first books of the New Testament are called Gospels. Gospel means “Good News,” and that Good News is that Jesus did arrive in the world and his Cross changes everything! Our past does not have the last word. You too are called to a new way of life.
Peace, Pastor Eric
